We proposed a vertical share house for young adults in Tokyo that offered a collective lifestyle. The vertical crevice in the project is an extension of the street, bringing together individuals, providing them with accessible amenities. It is not only about space, but also about occupation and economy inside/outside the house.
The discussion of privacy and publicity are the key points of this design. The two sets of walls formulated by the crevice serve as support of the whole architectural system. The crevice itself, along with the concaved space next to it, is full of amenities. Kitchen, shower, study room and movie theatre are shared among the residents while book store, flower store, art studio, cafe, and gym are open to the public and connected to a larger urban economy.
